Our Birmingham office is on the edge of Birmingham’s lively Business District and the city’s historic Jewellery Quarter.

Our Birmimgham office is an open plan, triple aspect modern office; the amenities in the building include numerous break out areas, a coffee lounge in reception and roof top garden, indoor cycle storage and shower facilities. The local area has good access to both major rail stations, the metro, high frequency bus routes and it very close to the fashionable ‘Paradise’ city centre development that has new and exciting bars and restaurants;  Colmore Row is within easy reach and the Bullring in approximately 5-6 minute walk from the office.

principal transport planner (approx £40,000-£48,000)

We are looking for exceptional people at Principal Transport Planner grade (someone with around 6 – 9 years experience) who want to get involved in delivering projects and be a key member of our growing team. Our overall approach in the business is for everyone in the business to work closely together to share their ideas, knowledge and views in order to ensure we achieve a successful outcome for our clients. This means you will have a varied work stream working alongside our wide range of clients, primarily in the Private Sector, includes high profile and prominent developers, land owners, house builders, retailers, universities, NHS health providers as well as contractors.

We will consider people based on their experience, but as a guide the successful candidate will have some or all of the following:

the position

  • Preparation of Transport Notes, Statements and Assessments, Travel Plans, Site Access Appraisals using Microsoft Office programmes (Word and Excel);
  • Travel Plan Coordinator experience;
  • An understanding of relevant local and national policy and guidance;
  • Junction capacity modelling using the Junctions software (ARCADY and PICADY);
  • Traffic signal design using LinSig;
  • Preliminary design of access, junction improvements and highway schemes using AutoCAD;
  • Swept Path Analysis using AutoTrack;
  • Preparation of high quality graphics using GIS packages and/ or Corel Draw;
  • Exposure to Project Management and client communication;
  • Prepare client briefs and fee proposals for submission, as well as contributing to company wide bids and frameworks; and
  • Contribute to working towards our business targets.

cad technician (approx £22,000-£28,000)

We are seeking a CAD operative with at least 3 years design experience, preferably in Highway Design or within a transport planning practice; as a member of the technical team your main responsibilities would be the production of preliminary highway and junction design layouts using AutoCAD and the production of other design drawings such as car parks, bus stations, footways and cycle routes; the role would also require good working knowledge to AutoTRACK – a piece of vehicle swept path software.

In addition to these main responsibilities the production of report figures using various software packages including CORELDRAW would be advantageous.

We are seeking enthusiastic transport planners who wish to progress to a role where helping to shape the business is part of their day to day role (with around 8-12 years professional experience). Our Associates manage and produce technical transportation studies associated with the delivery of new development; as such we are looking for technically competent individuals who are conversant in analysing various transport or development-related projects and are able to manage several projects and project teams simultaneously. The position will consist of day to day contact with clients and you will be expected to develop and manage key client contacts as well as develop new business.
