During 2010, Wilson Bowden Developments were selected as the preferred development partner by Wokingham Borough Council; mode transport planning was appointed to join the wider team to assist in the preparation of the submission material as part of the original tender.

The site is located in Wokingham Town Centre and is within close proximity to the A329(M) and the M4; key elements to developing a successful transport strategy involved highway realignment, traffic re-distribution and junction improvements, along with extensive town centre parking reviews.

During the pre submission period, mode were working closely with both Wilson Bowden Developments and Wokingham Borough Council, advising on highways matters relating to a mixed use development comprising of retail, employment and residential elements.

The team assisted in the preparation of a Transport Assessment and Travel Plan to support the planning submission made during 2014; which included:

parking review, including the proposal for a new light weight car park;

the introduction of shared space along the high street;

assessment of a complex junction arrangement at the rail station; and

Desing of a new link road through the development.
