Working alongside Mercia Real Estate, Glancy Nicholls Architects and Carney Sweeney planning; mode transport planning assisted with the transportation advice to support this innovative luxury townhouse located within a narrow infill plot between 50 Newhall Street and 85 Cornwall Street, Birmingham city centre.

mode transport planning are delighted to be involved in supporting this exciting and innovative project situated in the heart of Birmingham’s Colmore Business District.

The proposal seeks to provide a bold and contemporary design with detailing which is sympathetic to the surrounding listed buildings. This includes a bespoke patterned facade which references the arts and crafts motifs found within the neighbouring 50 Newhall Street. This exciting scheme provides inverted (upside-down) living accommodation; presenting bedrooms located on the lower floors and open plan living area on the upper floor. A glazed light-well creates a connection between old and new  buildings whilst providing additional daylighting into the deep narrow plot.

The planning and listed building consent applications for the proposed townhouse were approved by Members of Planning Committee on 4th March 2021.
