Alan Young


Alan has over 40 years experience in the design and construction of major highway schemes, traffic engineering and transportation planning.

Alan is a recognised expert in transportation planning and the application of quality audits and design principles to enhance place making. He was a contributing author (and managing editor) of both national design guidance documents, “Manual for Streets” and “Manual for Streets 2 – wider application of the principles”

Alan has managed a number of high profile, large scale, mixed use development schemes and urban extensions. He has provided transport planning advice relating to traffic analysis, highway design, car parking and sustainable Travel. Alan is used to engaging in complex negotiations with Local Authorities and has given evidence at a number of Public Inquiries over the last 20 years.

During the summer months, Alan can usually be found fishing on most Friday afternoons!
