The Department for Communities and Local Government announced yesterday a number of garden villages to be given Government backing to aid the delivery of 48,000 new homes. mode transport planning are proud to have developed the over-araching transport strategy to support Long Marston Airfield in Stratford-on-Avon, which will deliver 3,500 new homes.

These new garden villages will have access to a £6 million fund over the next 2 financial years to support the delivery of these new projects.

The monies will focus on unlocking their full capacity, accelerate delivery and removing barriers to implementation. In addition, the Government may provide further funding for additional resources and expertise to accelerate development and avoid delays.

Housing and Planning Minister Gavin Barwell said:

“Locally-led garden towns and villages have enormous potential to deliver the homes that communities need.

New communities not only deliver homes, they also bring new jobs and facilities and a big boost to local economies. These places combined could provide almost 200,000 homes.”

It is understood that another call for expressions of interest may be run in 2017/18; so if you are currently promoting a strategic site/allocation where transport may be an issue, please get in touch as mode would be delighted to assist through the delivery of a robust transport strategy.
